Itinerary Structure: Day by Day
Day 1
Arrival in Tui and Official Welcome
Reception and preparation.
Your adventure begins in the historic border town of Tui. We look forward to welcoming you in person at our physical location (The Pilgrim Hub), answering any remaining questions, and giving you your official kit: your pilgrim's credential, exclusive maps, and merchandise. Spend the afternoon strolling through the historic center, visiting the famous Cathedral of Santa María, and enjoying dinner by the Miño River. Tomorrow, the fun begins!
Day 2
Stage 1 – Tui to O Porriño
(16.6 km)
First steps among forests and valleys.
After leaving your backpack at your accommodation before 8:00 AM for us to transport, you'll cross the historic center of Tui heading north. This first stage combines rural Galician landscapes with wooded paths and traditional granaries. A gentle stage, perfect for warming up your legs, that will take you to the lively town of O Porriño, famous for its modernist architecture.
Day 3
Stage 2 – O Porriño to Redondela (15.2 km)
From the valley to the sea.
A pleasant stage winding through wooded paths, small rural villages, and the Louro River valley. After tackling the climb to the summit of A Escanderejana (O Saxamonde), the effort is rewarded with the first panoramic views of the sea. Arriving in Redondela offers a panorama of the Vigo Estuary and the San Simón inlet as a backdrop. You'll discover a town famous for its impressive 19th-century railway viaducts and its lively Camino de Santiago atmosphere.
Day 4
Stage 3 – Redondela to Pontevedra (19.6 km)
The medieval bridge of Pontesampaio.
Today the route offers one of the most iconic views of the Portuguese Way: crossing the Verdugo River on the medieval bridge of Pontesampaio. After a climb along ancient cobbled paths, the Way winds through dense Galician forests until reaching Pontevedra, one of Galicia's cultural capitals with a spectacular pedestrianized historic center that you'll love exploring as evening falls.
Day 5
Stage 4 – Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis (21.1 km)
Hot springs and vineyards.
You leave Pontevedra behind via the Burgo Bridge. This stage is a true visual delight, surrounded by Albariño vineyards, rural villages, and cultivated fields. The final destination is Caldas de Reis, a town with a centuries-old thermal tradition. You can relax your tired feet in the public hot springs before heading back to your hostel to rest.
Day 6
Stage 5 – Caldas de Reis to Padrón (18.6 km)
The land of letters and peppers.
A very comfortable and shady day's walk through the beautiful Bermaña Valley and the Valga forests. You'll enter the province of A Coruña and reach Padrón, a town forever linked to the Jacobean tradition (the boat carrying the Apostle's remains arrived here) and the literature of Rosalía de Castro. You're just a step away from the finish line!
Day 7
Stage 6 – Padrón to Santiago de Compostela (24.3 km)
The arrival at the Plaza del Obradoiro.
The big day! The longest and most exciting stage of the journey. You'll travel through small villages until, from Agro dos Monteiros, you catch your first glimpse of the Cathedral towers. The final descent will take you into the historic center of Santiago, right to the foot of the Cathedral in Plaza del Obradoiro. Collect your Compostela certificate and celebrate the end of an unforgettable experience. End of our services.

RESERVATIONS AND MODIFICATIONS What if I need to change the dates or cancel? We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. In your personalized proposal, we will detail the specific cancellation and flexibility conditions according to the policies of the hotels selected for your dates.
PHYSICAL PREPARATION Is it too hard? The Portuguese Way is one of the most accessible, with gentle slopes. However, we recommend: Walking in your Camino footwear at least 2 months beforehand. Taking 10-15km walks on mixed terrain. Key fact: 95% of our Essential pilgrims successfully complete the route thanks to walking without the weight of a backpack.
